Getting people thinking

If nothing else, one result of our challenge has been to get people thinking.  We have done plenty of it ourselves but it’s encouraging when others comment, or even better change what they are doing.  So when we are shown sandwiches in greaseproof paper instead of clingfilm it’s good news.  When Naomi and Duncan refused food at a buffet last week because it was all wrapped in or in throw away plastic containers a few of those there were bemused but most others were fascinated by the idea of no-plastic and what it meant and what could be done about it.  In the end this was the aim.  By a few of us giving up plastic we aren’t going to clean up our oceans but in the end we all have to learn to live with less of it and ultimately find different solutions to our enforced plastic lifestyles.  So when a colleague says “I was thinking about what you were doing and wondered how you were going to get toilet rolls?” then that can only be a good thing!  Better still will be when a manufacturer of toilet rolls asks the same question.
